Quelques conseils au préalable:

– Indiquez votre spécialité 

Si vous avez un certain type de cocktail de prédilection ou que vous maîtrisez parfaitement les boissons à base de rhum ou de vodka, faite le savoir: en effet, ça augmentera vos chances de décrocher le job car les bars recherche la petite chose qui vous démarquera des autres CV.

– Connaissez la loi

Mentionnez dans votre CV que vous connaissez bien les limites d’alcool à servir ainsi que les numéros des taxis locaux qui ramèneront les gens en état d’ébriété.

– Mentionnez que vous avez une bonne mémoire

En particulier si vous devez travailler dans un environnement avec beaucoup de monde: si vous avez auparavant travaillé dans un bar ou il y avait beaucoup de clients, n’hésitez pas à préciser que vous avez une bonne mémoire pour retenir les commandes. Les mots clés sont accuracy (précision), efficiency (efficacité), et attention to detail (attention aux détails).

– Montrez vos connaissances en anglais

Si vous devez travailler dans un bar, cela vous demandera de savoir bien parler l’anglais et de comprendre l’accent local… pas évident de prendre une commande si vous n’arrivez pas à déchiffrer l’accent australien ou irlandais ! Etre français peut aussi être un plus, ou si vous maîtrisez d’autres langues (allemand, espagnol) indiquez-le.

– Votre visa

En particulier si vous allez à l’étranger avec un visa de type working holyday qui dure un an, votre futur employeur voudra connaître la date de fin de votre visa. N’oubliez pas de le préciser dans le CV.

– Enfin, mentionnez vos certificats

Si vous cherchez un travail à l’étranger, renseignez vous s’il faut obtenir certains certificats pour servir de l’alcool. Par exemple, si vous cherchez un travail de barman en Australie il vous faudra une autorisation spécifique. N’oubliez pas de le mentionner dans votre cv car on vous le demandera. Parfois, le bar s’occupe de régler les frais de cette formation… à vous de négocier cela ou de le passer avant
